Really sore foot- flat shoes?

Any advice on supportive flat shoes? Doctor says sore foot joint at big toe is ‘mechanical inflammation’ as a result of having shoes too flat....

I had similar problems years ago from wearing ballet flats too much. Cured it by wearing fit flops in the summer and supportive trainers in the winter. I never wear totally flat shoes now, especially those with hard soles.

DS had this as he wore too many converse-style canvas shoes etc.

He was recommended these and now he wears them in all his shoes!

Not because of flat shoes. The foot is designed to be flat, most pain is from impact or excessive flexing, the first thing I ask people to try is a much stiffer soled shoe or an insole with a mortons extension for hallux rigidus.

Worth trying since most places aren't really offering treatments for this, and if they are, a long catch up list to get through...
