Feeling desperate now, what is this pain?! 😢

I developed an anal fissure earlier in the year, which was a complete mystery as I hadn’t had a bowel movement that day, I wasn’t constipated and I keep everything soft (drink 3 litres a day etc.). Anyway, saw the GP who confirmed what it was and I then did the usual self care (had them before unfortunately). The pain from that went after about 10 days and all was fine.

Not long after this I noticed that I started to get a kind of burning pain in my bottom, especially when I was lying in bed. I attributed this to the anal fissure healing and didn’t think any more of it (other than continuing with self care and thinking it would go with time).

Noticed after a little while that it was worse when exercising and that it wasn’t going away. Spoke to GP who said this was odd and referred me to the colorectal department of my local hospital on the grounds of an anal fissure not healing.

Saw the colorectal surgeon this week who examined me and said no sign of said fissure but that I have haemorrhoids (internally), however, ‘everybody has them’. Said he wasn’t convinced the pain was related to my bottom but rather my back (even though he examined that and no pain). So the upshot is he is sending me for an MRI on my back and if this doesn’t show anything up I’ve got to see him again and have my haemorrhoids banded. Great!

I was in a little discomfort when he was examining me (he used his finger and 2 different implements) but since then the pain I’ve been getting has worsened ten fold! I’m in agony now most of the time, with sharp and burning pains that are worse after going to the toilet. Before his examination I would just have this burning pain when lying in bed or sitting on soft surfaces. Now it’s on and off all the time!

Without going into too much detail I want to say that I’ve never had any blood throughout all of my ‘bottom issues’, before his examination it was painless to go to the toilet but now it hurts. It’s not comfortable to sit for very long at all, nor lay in bed. I just don’t know what to do with myself! His examination just seems to have made things so much worse! He wasn’t convinced the pain would be from the haemorrhoids that I apparently have but could it be?! I don’t have any experience of them prior to this.

I’m going to ring the surgeons secretary on Monday and relay this to him because I’m in so much pain this can’t be normal! Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I’m at my wits end now, it’s been 5 months of just sheer misery 😢😢😢
