Popped burn blister!

cuteglasses · 13/07/2020 07:08

Burnt my arm at the weekend in the stream of steam from the kettle. Huge blister formed but I accidentally popped it in the bath!
I've got a dressing on it but it's staying wet and not drying out.
What to
Do?

How big is huge?

I'd be tempted to leave it unless I see signs of a problem.
You can cover it with something that won't stick, chemists sell shiny dressings that you place on and tape in place.

Make sure you seek medical attention at the first sign of infection - I.e. spreading redness, hot to touch, yellow/green tinged edges

Depends on the size of the burn?

However if you went to A&E prior to it being popped, they would have popped it anyway and applied a dressing, just like you have done.

You do need non stick dressings so you can change it when you feel it’s necessary, without disrupting the afflicted area - pharmacies and boots/Superdrug will stock Melolin, you’ll also need tape to secure it in place.

Have you removed the blistered skin? When I went to minor injuries they did that as well as applying a dressing. Had to go back a few days later to check it was healing correctly and was not infected.
