TMI Q

Over the last few nights I've had a fair bit of red wine. I noticed yesterday and today that my poo is very dark almost black. Does drinking red wine (probably far too excessively) cause black poo?

Generally no, but black faeces is a warning sign for gastro-intestinal bleeding.
Do you suffer from stomach ulcers?

I would try get a faecal sample if you can and make an appointment with your gp. Sounds like you may need a colonoscopy or an endoscopy to see where it is coming from.

Thankyou for your reply.
Again tmi but after going to the loo again I noticed it was darker than normal and almost like a green colour rather than black.

I don't have a stomach ulcer that I know of. If it's still the same tomorrow l will call the GP

it definitely affects the colour of my poo the next morning.

Thankyou for your reply! I had drank a lot of red wine over a few evenings didn't expect it to have that effect. I'm usually a gin or rose drinker.

It's almost back to normal today!
