Mirena Coil Replacement - Heavy Period

I had a Mirena coil in for the last 5 years, had no trouble with it, and very light, short periods. Got it replaced with a new one last month, bled a little for a day or 2 around that, then all fine. Now though I've got my first period on this one, and it's going on for the last 8 days and is much heavier than before !!
Anyone have this happen after a Mirena replacement ? Does it settle back to how it was before ? I barely remeber how to deal with heavy periods, haven't had them in years Confused

Give it time to settle. Unless you have severe cramps with period then it's best to wait. For the heavy period take an ibuprofen and it will lighten. You can go up to the max dose of ibuprofen in a day to lighten your period but one or two dose will usually do the trick.
