Tonsillitis/quinsy in toddler

I have a little one just turned two, she got diagnosed with tonsillitis yesterday, as she had a very high temperature and pus on tonsils. Obviously started antibiotics, she is drinking but she has now started gagging like she is struggling to swallow- she is struggling with saliva, she has had 3 lots of antibiotics, just wondered if I should be worried about quinsy? The doctor did say she had pus on both tonsils.

Your poor DD! Sounds horrible Sad

If its getting to the point that its really difficult to drink I'd get back on the phone to the GP. You don't want to reach the point where she stops drinking as little ones can go downhill quite quickly.

I had quinsy 2 years ago. I ended up in a&e where they had to drain it. (horrible ) I couldn't swallow at all and struggled with saliva. I would def call your dr.

Thanks at @INeedNewShoes she can't tell me what's up as she is only 2, she is currently having third nap of the day. (When she doesn't now nap normally) She has drink a bit this morning just now worried about the gagging on saliva.

Are you going to call your GP? I really would. Preferable to be seen this afternoon rather than dealing with it all out of hours.

Spoken to gp who says we need to get another lot of antibiotic into her and see how it goes, says if we can't get any drink into her before bed then to call 111.
