Spotty itchy scalp

Hi,
Bit grim but I’m having a recurring problem with a lumpy, spotty scalp. It is very itchy which then starts a cycle of itching and scabbing. I’ve tried the coal tar T Gel shampoo as well as a similar prescription shampoo and but it doesn’t seem to improve. Can anyone recommend a shampoo to help (not dandruff) please?! Shock

Nizoral worked for me. I have sebhorrhoeic dermatitis.

Swimming in the sea!!
I’m not joking. I have psoriasis on my scalp and swimming in the sea always helps.

Nizoral worked for me, also only washing it once a week. The summer is always worse than winter for my scalp.

@BikeRunSki

I have this too and have recently moved next to the sea, can try this!

BikeRunSki · 05/07/2020 08:17

I hope it works for you @okiedokieme. It’s always worked for me, everywhere from Whitby to Zanzibar. Unfortunately I live in one of the most landlocked places in the UK!

Lol BikeRunSki I WISH I could have a daily sea swim!! I’m (fingers crossed) camping in France soon so will ensure liberal applications of salt water! Off to google Nizerol and that dermatitis mentioned. Not sure if mine is Folliculitis 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have recurring lumps which hurt and itch, probably folliculitis.
Betnovate scalp lotion and a course of antibiotics helps.

LazyDoll · 06/07/2020 16:34

I’ve had a video consultation with GP and got weeks course of antibiotics. It may need a prolonged course to clear it 😱. T gel Or similar once a week when better to maintain scalp health. And no picking!! Thanks for all your advice Flowers

Good, hope it clears up. One of the best bits of advice given to me by my GP was to wash my hair much less often. I had a short style which needed washing daily. I grew it out over the next 2 years and managed on 2 washes a week. It massively improved but still comes back from time to time.

LazyDoll · 06/07/2020 20:09

Aw thank you Juo. Mine is sooo long at the moment (not been cut for so long!) but I do have to wash it quite regularly due to sweaty after running head. Probably only 3 x a week though so not TOO bad.
