Problem with 7 year olds gum

I am waiting for my dentist to come back to me but in the meantime does anyone know any reason why my 7 year old DS would have a bruise on his gum that hasn’t been caused by any trauma?
His milk tooth fell out a while ago and no new one has replaced it so don’t know if that’s the cause?

Bump

It could be an eruption cyst. A purplish swelling that appears just before a new tooth comes through. Is it painful?

SquashSqueezey · 30/06/2020 12:39

Thanks it’s not painful but he says he noticed it when brushing his teeth a “while ago” so I’m not sure how long it been like that for. Is there anything I need to do about it?

No, you can’t really get rid of it if that’s what it is, just wait for the adult tooth to come through and it will go. It’s not infection or anything problematic. (Just going by your photo!) I am a dentist btw! 😁

Wow thanks @MilkLady02 that’s really helpful.

Almost certainly an eruption cyst and sill resolve as tooth erupts
