wisdom tooth extraction....healing?

Hi I had my lower wisdom tooth extracted 10 days ago. I think I have just dislodged the clot....there is now a big hole. Am I far enough down the line to get dry socket or can I still get it? Also how do I keep this massive hole clean?

Anyone? I really worried as it has only just started feeling less painful!

Can you see your bone in the hollow space because if you do then you have a hollow pocket. Honestly, call your dentist tomorrow , they will fill it with some medicine and dress it for you.

I can see white but I don't know if it is bone or granulated tissue.

Dry socket is extremely painful. I usually tell patients after a Wisdom tooth extraction it will feel sore for at least 2 weeks after surgery. It is normal for there to be a ‘hole’ and can take months for the surrounding bone to remodel and for it to smooth over. Gentle rinsing with salt water and ensuring food brushing of adjacent tooth.
Unless it is extremely painful it is unlikely you have dry socket.

Hands down I've had two kids albeit emergency sections and nothing nothing compares to the pain of a dry socket - it's very painful - the pain is exhausting and it radiates - it's awful

I have just looked again and the hole looks smaller there is more white granulated tissue. Is it possible the clot is reforming? Is this even possible? Surely any reformed clot would be red this early on?

Ive had dry socket on a wisdom tooth extraction. It really hurt and i had a vile taste in my mouth. You would know if it was dry socket. It woild happen befire 20 days though.

Im lucky enough to have had 2 extractions during lockdown. I was had an excellent dentist. He told me once the socket is gone you will sometimes see a white bit. There is nothing to panic about though as its normally healing tissue. Though in the odd case, if it was a large back tooth you can sometimes see a small bit of the jaw as it heals.
