Breast reduction

Hi all,

Had a search and couldn’t find any recent threads so thought I’d make one.

I had a consultation with a private surgeon before lockdown for a breast reduction. He was fantastic and I knew I would be going there for my procedure. They closed not long afterwards for lockdown and have recently opened back up, so I booked in for 24th July. I can’t wait!

I’m a 34jj and hoping to go down to D. My back is aching, my skin is aching, I have a hunch and get headaches from it. They also look absolutely ridiculous. NHS said no straight away and just prescribed painkillers.

I need to isolate for a week before and after surgery, and have a covid test a few days before.

Anyone who has had a reduction can you share your experience? Pain levels, recovery time etc? It’s a day case with fentanyl midazolam sedation as opposed to general anaesthetic.

Anything I need to buy for afterwards to help recovery? Any recommendations for a good post op bra?

The consultation was good. The surgeon examined me, lifted them up, muttered to himself in Slovak for a bit then described what he would do. We had a discussion about it, and I went off with the nurse to discuss aftercare, pricing etc.

The surgery itself went well. I’m not going to lie and say it was easy, it really wasn’t. It was bloody painful, I had restricted movement for a good 5/6 weeks, and I developed an infection in my right breast that became antibiotic resistant. My scarring isn’t pretty because of that, and because my boobs were so huge he had to cut quite a bit further round my side than he thought. BUT I’m a bit different as I take a lot of immunosuppressants which prevented quick healing. Most people heal quickly and perfectly fine.

The sedation was just like being knocked out. I was shocked afterwards at how sore my arms and shoulders were, because of how they placed the arms during surgery. Also was shocked at the finger print bruising on my boobs!

I was on the table for 12.30 and home for dinner for 7pm. Are you having day case or staying over? General anaesthetic?

Saying all that, I do not regret it one bit. I’m a 36d now down from a 34jj. My migraines have gone, my backache has gone and I can wear pretty clothes. I can see my nipples! Best 7.5k I’ve ever spent.

I think it will just be a day case but maybe a night in if any issues I guess. I’m currently a 34gg and I would love to be a 34D but worried they won’t be able to go that low in size.

I’m not expecting recovery to be easy, especially when I have 2 under 5s who love to punch me in the boobs 🙈 I’ll be wearing a pillow around the house afterwards lol

How long after your consultation was your surgery? I know during a pandemic it may take longer but I’m really hopeful it will be done before October.

Scarring isn’t a big concern but I’ll make sure to take care of them as best as I can.

I had the consultation in February I think and the op end of July. Delay was only because of lockdown, otherwise it could’ve been done within a matter of weeks!

If they say they can’t get you down that many cup sizes, try somewhere else. I went for a consultation with Transform who told me they couldn’t go down that big a difference. With my surgeon at Elanic it was never an issue. He didn’t promise a D but said he’d get me as close as he could. I ended up going down I think 11 cup sizes in the end.

Where are you based? I had mine done at Elanic in Glasgow by Wiljem Topcic but he’s stuck in Slovenia at the minute due to their restrictions. Lovely lovely man, got great vibes the minute I met him and didn’t look anywhere else after that.

If he can’t give me what I want I’ll deffo go somewhere else. A lot of the reviews I’ve read of people with similar breast sizes go down to a D cup. I’m just panicking for no reason because I’ve wanted smaller boobs for so long I feel like it’s just not gonna happen 🙈

That’s good then so at least I know I’m not gonna be waiting too long then. Could you book your appointment during your consultation or do they have to get back to you? Also do you think it’s a good idea to go with pictures of what your after or is it best to just let the surgeon decide?

I could have booked it there and then but had to get finance sorted first. Once they were open again I did that straight away, paid the deposit and the rest a week before.

I didn’t take a picture just knew I wanted to be roughly a D cup. I think it’s really personal to your body type so maybe best letting the surgeon decide although I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to give an idea! There’s a lady on the mia forums who is roughly the same sizes as you if I recall correctly I’ll see if I can find the link, hers are fabulous. Are you getting an uplift as well?

I had mine done on the NHS. I was crippled with back and neck pain.

Went from a K cup to a D.

I definitely need a lift aswell so I’ll see what the surgeon says. I’m a bit concerned that I can’t find any pictures of his work but the few reviews I’ve found are all really good so I’m hoping when I get there he will show me and that will put my mind at rest.

I’m just so impatient I want it done next week haha 😂

I’ve got a personal loan lined up for it but I’m not going to apply until I know exactly how much it’s going to cost. They gave me a guide price of £6959 but could be more. I feel like I’m a straight forward case so hopefully that will be it lol xx

My surgeon has an insta, V H Topcic his is and it shows all his work there. So could try yours there? He had not long started working in the UK when I met him so there wasn’t a lot but it’s the vibe from him I got, just trusted him right away and got along great with him.

I’ve looked but he’s not on there 🙈 found another consultant that is at the same hospital and now I’m wondering wether to swap. Everyone says he’s really professional and has excellent bedside manners so I might just wait and see how I get on with him. Xx
