I've never really struggled with problems with my tonsils, but for the past week have had a sore throat and been incredibly tired.

I'm not sure if it's tonsillitis or something else, just wondering if anyone's had anything similar. I've attached a picture, if it persists Ill try and get a doctors appointment next week, but don't want too if it'll go on its own.

I'd really appreciate all of your help☺️

Ooooh. Tonsil stone. Pop it out with a teaspoon handle. That one is a beauty. Should have posted in the Sporners topic.

itbemay1 · 25/06/2020 12:43

Could be a tonsil stone or pus, pus is normally more widespread though, throat looks quite inflamed, try salt water gargle, paracetamol and see how it goes. Hope you feel better soon.

Chatons · 25/06/2020 12:43

It’s a stinky tonsil stone! See if you can prod it out!

peachgreen · 25/06/2020 12:51

Crikey, that's a giant tonsil stone. I'm almost jealous, it'll be so satisfying to pop it out. You also have an ulcer on the roof of your mouth above it which is probably causing the pain. My sympathies, they suck!

Literallyfedup · 25/06/2020 16:10

It is not necessary a tonsil stone. I have one right now and it hasn't gone away. I have it since February and have already been on 2 rounds of antibiotics. Had an Ent referral and the doctor said it is a mucous cyst. Normally formed after sore throat or dental abscess. Check your gums specially behind wisdom teeth and see if you find any pulp/soft or inflamed gums. If you do consult your dentist.
I would also advise you to call your GP , an early intervention of antibiotics might help.
I don't know how it will go away, it might needed to be drained, I have a repeat appointment in August so will then know better.

Poke it if it pops out your all good

Gibbstheory · 25/06/2020 16:39

Thank you for all the replies - tried seeing if anything would pop out and no luck there, so not too sure that it is a tonsil stone

I would probably want to see the GP about that. It looks horrible. Phone your surgery, describe it and ask what they would like you to do.

slipperywhensparticus · 25/06/2020 16:52

Gargle with salt water then and contact your gp

Samster45 · 25/06/2020 16:54

Looks like a tonsil cyst to me- you can see there are blood vessels running over the surface if you zoom in I think?
Google tonsil cyst and look at the images and phone GP?

healththrowawayx · 27/06/2020 19:50

Consider calling your dentist too, they’re better with oral issues in my experience

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 27/06/2020 23:22

Its not a tonsil stone it looks pus filled to me. Tonsil cyst I would say

Not a medical professional sorry, but I agree.

It does look more like a tonsil cyst when you compare images online. The top of your white lump is pink, suggests that it’s attached to your tonsil like a cyst. Don’t think those pink areas would be there if it was just a tonsil stone, as it would just be a solid yellow lump

Desheww · 27/01/2023 05:08

Hey bro , i have like this , its been 1 year it's not going away , any suggestion please

Jjzoom · 18/09/2023 06:59

I have this too man for about 3 months now. & different doctors said different things.
one said it’s not pus, another said it’s tonsil stones. it doesn’t look like tonsil stones.

Elizmill · 06/03/2024 04:55

Had a similar one! Thought it was a tonsil stone so I worked at it tonight to try and pop it out but mine ended up popping entirely and was filled with pus. Tonsil cyst? Who knows…Swelling is very minimal and I gargled warm salt water twice to clean it out the best I could. No negative symptoms over here thus far. Keeping an eye on it but otherwise I feel fine.
