Stomach upset and bleeding

DD (19) has had red bloody diarrhoea for nearly three weeks.
DD spoke to the GP couple of weeks ago who suggested she may have piles as at that time DD had been constipated for a few days.
DD has an appointment today as the dr would like to see if she can see piles as DD used the cream suggested with no improvement (DD doesn’t actually have any discomfort that you would associate with piles). If she can find any DD will have a blood test/stool sample.
Is there anything we should be asking the GP?

Does she have any symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease?

E.g. Chron’s?

I mean - she obviously does have symptoms, but has IBD been considered?

Thanks LarkDescending. The GP couldn’t see or feel any piles so suspect’s coeliacs, Crohns or ulcerative colitis. Just have to wait for tests to come back.

@woodlandtree

My 19 yr old has crohns. He was diagnosed when he was 8, so we have lived with this for a long time.
It looks as though your daughter has a good GP to get tests done so quickly. Most seem to have no idea, it took me two years to get my son tested.
Bloods should come back fairly quickly, which if suspected IBD [ inflammatory bowel disease ] the test will show inflammation. Stool samples [ cal protectin ] can take up to 3 weeks, again this will be looking for levels of inflammation.
If anything is found the next step will be to arrange to see a gastroenterology who will arrange a colonoscopy.

PM me if you want to chat.

Thanks @Toomboom, I will certainly come back for advice of DD is diagnosed with IBD.

DD managed to do a stool sample and it was the most ‘normal’ one she had for about three weeks so who knows what’s going on. DD will have a blood test tomorrow morning , the wait today was 90 mins and it was too hot to sit in the hospital for that long while wearing a mask.
