Heat stroke and aggression

My gentle and fun husband works outdoors and yesterday came home really irritable. He said he’d been really hot all day which I understand would make him cranky. Later on however he got quite irrational and aggressive, shouting at me for little things he would never usually shout about and being really unkind. He wasn’t scary or threatening but he definitely wasn’t rational and wouldn’t be reasoned with. Our teenage dc were also surprised as he doesn’t normally shout, although he didn’t shout at them directly. We all ignored him and didn’t engage in an argument and then he just went very quiet for the whole evening. Could this be a symptom of heat stroke? He has been affected by the heat before and come home has been sick or felt dizzy but nothing like this. He drinks a lot of water in the day and wears a hat so is as careful as he can be. He’s apologised this morning saying he doesn’t know what came over him and is really upset that he upset me so much. He was like a different person.
