Fallen- hurt my throat :(

Finally got the kids asleep. Skipped back to the living room thinking I'll get some tv time in before I tidy the tsunami of toys away. As I was heading back to the sofa with a snack, my toe caught the edge of the fucking climbing triangle and I landed, neck first, on the bastard jumperoo (and knee on a metal toy car). I'm in pain- my throat really hurts each time I swallow- like I'm trying to swallow a hot ball. Baby woke up with the commotion and as I lay feeding him, i could feel my throat throbbing on the inside. What should I do? Apart from an angry red patch, there's no damage to the outside of my neck.

I'd call 111 for advice. I would also be prepared for some probing questions if you have injuries/ bruising to your throat.

Sorry, that was a bit abrupt! I hope you feel better soon! Maybe a cold drink would be soothing until you speak to someone?

Oh god, that's the last thing I need :/ I might just wait it out overnight and call my GP tomorrow if the pain's just as bad. I hope I've not damaged anything in there.

I would call 111 just as you want to try and ascertain whether it's likely to swell up or not, and if there's anything that will help prevent it from doing so (obviously on the throat that's not what you want!). It's more than likely fine, but I did something weirdly similar but managed to hit my neck on the stair gate bar, I didn't get any probing questions mind.

I’d call for advice, my worry would be any potential swelling.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten or upset you! To clarify, the questions would be because they are duty-bound to rule out domestic violence (imagine how bad that would have been to cause those injuries). It will not affect your treatment, nor will they involve your partner. Please don't let it out you off seeking help. I certainly wouldn't wait until tomorrow.
