Or atypical trigeminal neuralgia?
I have numb chin syndrome, went numb nearly 3 months ago. It started on the right side of my chin as a 'tingling feeling' then progressively got more numb. Then the left side of my chin started to go numb too. Each change coincided with stabbing pains to my ears and jaw joint and burning sensation all over my chin which lasted anywhere between 5 minutes to a few hours.
I had other varying symptoms too - constant little headaches, flashes in my vision, intermittent numbness in my right and left arms and legs, although mostly on my right side. I also noticed lumps on the back of my neck back in March/ april which are still there.
Finally had a telephone consultation with a neurologist. He believes all the symptoms except the numb chin are just migraines.
However he said he thinks the numb chin is being caused by something pressing against the trigeminal nerve. Unfortunately because of covid I have to wait 3 weeks for an MRI.
The stabbing and burning pain is not that bad, it varies but is becoming more frequent.
Anyone else have any of these symptoms? Or know much about it? I only know what I read from google (I know I know lol) but I don't seem to get the debilitating pain it mentions.
