Nose runs constantly when I eat

Just that really. Whenever I eat hot food (don’t seem to have this issue with cold food) my nose starts running, to the point I now how to get up once or twice during meal times to blow my nose. And then stays blocked/stuffy for a while afterwards. Only started happening a few weeks ago.

Anyone else had anything like this?

I get this all the time and know it is because of my bloody tenacious nasal polyps - had them surgically removed a few times but the buggers come back.
Basically the heat opens up the blood vessels which supply the polyps which means they swell slightly and cause a histamine response.
After cleaning my teeth I can breathe normally for a short while.
I take prescription anti-histamines and steroidal nasal spray which do help but they’re not a cure.

This happens to me too, and not just hot food, every time I eat my nose starts running.

My mom and Nan are/were the same 🤷🏼‍♀️

Always have a tissue handy when I sit down to eat.

Me too - has been like that for a couple of years :(

It’s not just me then! DP thinks I’m going crazy, I don't think he notices it but it drives me crazy. I hope it doesn’t get worse-I can brush my teeth with no problems just any food that’s even slightly warmed up.

Happens to me, and to my dad. You’re not alone OP!

Yes, me too. Particularly bad with alcohol and anything containing sulphur.

I get this too, and seem to get a runny nose way more than my husband! My mum gets it too. I always thought it was cos of the quick temperature change (as I also get a runny nose in the cold a lot, or if I'm out walking and it's cold but my body is hot). Don't think it's anything to worry about really, just one of those things
