I am not feeling right and haven't done for a while. I am very tired and feel tired even after a good sleep. I am having to nap during the day and I feel more tired now than when I first had the kids. I can't contrate properally and am suffering from severe headaches. I had scarlet fever last year and wonder if this triggered a problem but don't want to go to the doctors with tiredness (seems silly) Any ideas? I am ratty with the kids and DH, DH is being very patient, but for how long?

How did you get on Mieow?

mieow · 15/10/2004 13:35

I went to the docotors this morning. I have to have a blood test to test my blood count, to test my thryoid gland, and check for diabetes. She said I have to return in a week or so (couldn't get an apointment with her for two weeks) to disuss the results, which she hope will show something. She done a neuro test on me, asking me to do things like wiggling my tonugue, and closing my eyes and holding my hands out, which she said was fine, so its not my brain, anyway. I'll let you know the results soon

Oh Mieow, I was just about to post about same thing - only has not been going on for so long. I feel more tired than did when dd born, and when was pregnant. Just a constant desire to curl up into a ball and sleep. Going to bed at about 8pm and getting up at 7am and dozing while dd has afternoon nap. The only thing I can think of it being is that I had an ear infection about 4 weeks ago, which went 2 weeks ago after 2 lots of strong antibiotics. But if I don't feel better by end of next week I'll go to doctors. Agree that you feel like a bit of a time-waster going to GP and moaning about being tired, though!

How did you get on mieow? I'm now waiting for an appointment for a liver doctor to feel my liver! All from feeling tired!

mieow · 14/11/2004 23:10

I had lots of blood tests done, and they came back negative. I have to go back in a few weeks, the doctor thinks its just me overdoing things (I have two disabled kids) and I have to make "me" time!

Easier said than done, isn't it!

Go and see a good Iridologist (www.gni-international.org) or herbalist (www.associationofmasterherbalists.co.uk) to get you on the right track - blood tests only come up with things if your counts are not within the normal range - it is better to nip it in the bud before you really do get ill and won't be able to look after your kids - hope you feel better soon.

Oh mieow, how are you, I've just seen this.
It's very hard to make me time isn't it, you get so tied up with everything else. I have been feeling down (shall we say) for a while now, it does happen every now & then but I can usually snap out of it. I just don't seem to be able to do it this time and thinking about it, I have probably not been myself for a couple of months. I seem to feel like such a wash out IYKWIM, can't motivate myself and have no patience with the kiddies.
Sorry to butt i on your thread, I have no advice for you, I am just hoping that it will all pass soon.
I suppose I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone and that I will be thinking of you.
Hugs, Dingle.

I have been so tired and sad for so long now I am worried. I was diagnosed a year ago with post partum and am on celexa. At first it was great and even my son said it was great to hear me laugh again. I feel like that old tired, always grumpy on the verge of crying person again. Plus to top things off I weigh more now then I did at the end of both my pregnancies...HELP!!!!

crabapple · 08/12/2005 23:16

hi,crabapple here, just want to say that I had similar problem after DD 1 was born.

Took doc 1 whole year
to diagnose my under active thyriod!By then I was
very debilitated couldnt look after baby, relied on loads of family support and got an associated
depression.Symptoms were exteme sleepiness,apathy,
dry skin, coarse hair, sensitivity to cold temperatures, inability to concentrate, some weight gain and joint pain due to swelling(fluid retention),also lac of appitite.Bearing in mind these symptoms came on gradually and were more noticed by those close to me than by myself, not all the symptoms may be present in your case,my sister had three blood tests before thyroid problems were diagnosed.I
was referred to a consultant dealing with post viral fatigue before I found this very easy to treat condition, and I have never looked back.Keep
plugging away at gp and ask for referral if he is unable to help you, you need to get to the bottom of this!
