Fluttering sensation in ear?

I first started experiencing this a few weeks ago. It's feels/ sounds like fluttering inside the ear. At first I thought that maybe there was a bug in it but I've been putting olive oil drops in and its still happening. It's not all the time either. Sometimes it'll be hours before it happens again and sometimes it'll do it several times over. It last a few seconds each time. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've asked on here before but wondering if I need to worry about it and get it checked out when able to go to gp? My sister thinks its just wax but I've had build of wax before and its never made noise in my ear also the olive oil drops should have cleared it anyway.

Does it flutter in time with your breathing? I have a perforated eardrum which has never properly healed over and I can hear it flutter when I breathe!

Omg I get that! I have tinnitus but its not like a noise it actually feels like my eardrum is moving.

I had this earlier this year for about 3 months. It was so annoying. Worse when I was drinking wine. I kept pushing and rubbing my ear but the flapping was much deeper.

I ended up finding out It was Eustachian tube dysfunction and using beconase worked (despite my cynicism!). Thankfully it has returned.

I do get this occasionally but I don't know what it is! But I do get a lot of muscles in my legs and arms pulsating so I thought maybe it's that but in my ear

*not returned!

I’ve had this! It started up randomly one night. Went away during the day but always started up again in the evening. This went on for four weeks. I saw my go who thought it was an ear infection and gave me antibiotics. They didn’t work. I couldn’t sleep at night because the fluttering would not stop.

Luckily after four weeks it stopped. I remember googling frantically for solutions and it’s quite a common problem.

I hope it stops for you soon OP

I had this about 6 months ago and ended up having an ear spray from the doctors. It still happens every now and again tho?! They said it was inflammation of part of my ear but I’m not sure

Fatted · 12/06/2020 22:31

I've had this before around the time I had an ear infection. I'd put it down to my ear around the drum being inflamed.

lyssie29 · 12/06/2020 22:34

Not it doesnt do it when breathing just pretty much anytime really.

@Northernsoullover yes that's it exactly. It feels like movement. That's why I thought it was a bug.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I told my friend and she looked at me like I was crazy!

I had this on and off for about 6 months. Went to ENT and they said it was tensor tympani syndrome. I think there is an operation can be done if it is really bad but mine just suddenly stopped.

@lyssie29 did yours stop?
