Bunged up sinuses making me dizzy, any tips to clear them?

I've had this head cold thingy for a week but it seems to be behind my eyes and the top of my head. I go really dizzy at times. Could it be my middle ear? I tried the steam/towel thing. Maybe I need to do it more often? Or does anyone know of anything that can clear it?

Have you tried taking decongestants, JD? Sinutabs or something - the time-release ones or ordinary - they work for me.

thanks janH, i tried the beechams ones but they haven't touched it. I'll try sinutabs

Yes - got it at the moment and can't take too many decongestants as still bf . Sudafed non drowsy do help me, or sniffing olbas oil. But the best remedy is a cup of boiling water, with the juice of 1 lemon, one teaspoon of honey, and a slug of brandy.

cheers prufrock, I like the sound of that

I know when suzywong had really bad sinuses a few months back she ate about 10 cloves of raw garlic on a bit of toast and it solved the problem. IIRC.

suzywong · 12/10/2004 11:16

it's true I did

but it was only 4

Do you think anyone would still speak to me though Suppose it's worth a try if nothing else works?
It's so bad I'm panicking about going to the school as I go so dizzy

I had a cold when I was in Barcelona and was on the verge of sending dp out to buy a whole head of garlic for me to eat raw. Didn't want a bloody cold ruining my holiday. Felt OK the next day though. Much to dp's relief.

A tablespoon of chilli powder taken in a small amount of water has a similar effect on colds too apparently, if you can bear it.

I had a curry last night hoping that would help. As good an excuse as any I could take the chilli thing, never heard of that b4
