Confused so I had a swab at the GP on Monday and had my results this morning and she said it was positive for BV. I have been prescribed metronidazole and have already taken one.

My smells actually aren’t great so i didn’t notice a real bad smell, and I haven’t really noticed any abnormal discharge. My symptoms was just pelvic, side and some lower back pain/ache.
Since I have actually read up on BV apparently having an IUD can cause this. I do have the mirena coil and it was due out last October. I was on a waiting list to have this out, but due to covid19 my appointment got cancelled.
Bringing the coil up to the nurse about how I think it needs to come out she basically said due to the pandemic certain things they cannot do, so il have to wait to have it taken out. I don’t know if I have ever had BV before, and if I have I’ve never known.
What I did read was the normal symptoms of BV was off discharge and smells. Now I’ve not noticed any of those just the pains. Can I just have these symptoms of BV?
Sorry for the long post x

So I did one of those self tests and it came back positive for BV, I spoke to GP and they prescribed the same antibiotic as you and I'm on day 4 of 7! My only symptoms was a fishy smell but it only came on after I would have sex, and I had some extra spotting towards the end of my cycle buts that's it. No abnormal discharge-we are TTC so no contraception here.

@lulu788 Thankyou for that. I don’t actually smell anything which is weird as most symptoms state a fishy smell. My scenses aren’t great.
I thought I had a uti because all of my symptoms related to that, especially a fullness feeling in the bladder x

@MrsGxx I have had previous months where I have had antibiotics for what I thought was a uti so it may have been what was BV

I would say 2 out of the last 5 months I have had uti symptoms
