I used to do a lot of aqua running when I had really bad achilles injury. If you do it properly with the right kit (ie you're so out of breath you can't speak) it's a great form of keeping fit. I used to run about 40 miles a week and was a size 8. When I injured my achilles and couldn't run I was terrified I'd lose my fitness and put on weight. I did aqua running and it really did the job for me. I still do it occasionally.

Piggy - thanks (only a confidently svelte person with a nice nose would call themselves a name like piggy ) for that. Did you run with the belt and in proper aqua running shoes? Also, I presume you have to run across the pool (widths) so that the water is consistently at the right height?

I didn't have the shoes (don't think they existed then!) but did have the belt. You do need space in the pool and yes, try to do it in the deep end as you need to be confident that your feet won't hit the ground.
