Injured my toe, how do I treat?

Over the weekend I kicked the office chair by accident and stubbed my small toe, which was really painful at the time, but didn’t last long.
I went running yesterday, felt a bit achy, but today it has bruised and is really throbbing. Walking on it is very painful and I am resorting to limping around.

Do I just wait it out until it gets better by itself? Can I go walking without making it worse? Stubbed my toe many a time but it’s the first time it’s been this bad.

I fractured my big toe recently. Wasn't displaced. On the day I did it, I elevated it and iced it. I walked around the house but didn't go for walks or run. I had about 3 weeks of this, then I started going on walks. After 9 weeks I resumed running.

Thanks, I’ve been trying to leave it and some days are ok and others I’m limping around. Going to try rest it and hopefully will get better.

I'm
So glad I saw this thread. acocado may I ask did you go to hospital? How did you recover? My sister is now seriously ill and has injured her big toe since beginning of lockdown . She didn't want to go to A and E because of covid and now too ill and would be very dangerous for her health to catch it. I read online the big toe needs x Ray as May need treatment

I did have an xray. The GP referred me. This is how I know it was fractured. I went to a small local hospital for the xray.
