Breast implant discomfort.

Does anyone have experience of breast implant discomfort?

I've had the very modest C-cup implants for 16 years, under muscle as I have no real breast tissue. Been feeling some discomfort in the left one but both feel intact/the same.

I have pain in my back/left shoulder blade & under left armpit. Had a x-ray last year & have spoken to gp recently- she's not concerned about cancer but will refer me to hospital breast clinic once they are accepting referrals again.

I do have neck pain/muscle pain (dunno why - posture/lack of use?) & just wonder if it's that.

Hi I had implants 18 years ago, over the muscle. At the end of last year, I had very similar symptoms to you. I was very worried so went to see my consultant who did the op (who is now semi-retired but still sees follow up patients). He checked them and said he felt they were still intact but the only sure way to know was to have an ultrasound. He was unsure why I was getting the pains in my left chest/shoulder area.

I paid for the scan and it confirmed that they were still intact and in good condition. Soon after the pains all went away so I am still non the wiser as to what caused them!

I hope you get the the bottom of what is causing you pain, it is frustrating at the moment with no clinics or scans taking place.

Mine are 25 years old and 3 years ago I had a similar issue. Was examined and had a mammogram but the Consultant at the hospital said they were intact, looked good still and that unless I simply didn’t want them any more to leave well alone. They’ve been fine since then and I suspect the cause was hormonal as was definitely peri at the time.

Tbh I was very relieved as I couldn’t afford to have the surgery again and I’m not sure that in my fifties I’d actually want to replace them with new perky ones or go totally natural with the sad little flaps I’d be left with.

Same here! I really don't want surgery again and like you, my consultant said to leave well alone unless there is an issue with them meaning they have to come out

I feel exactly the same - terrified of having to have another op. Am also early 50s...

I believe that even if they do rupture a sack forms so would hold it in so I can probably hang on till I go for ultrasound at breast clinic. I really do think it's coming from my neck & back plus i've always had a tenderer left breast anyway. Really appreciate you taking the time to reassure me.
