Home thyroid blood tests.

Has anyone on here used one, and if so, would you recommend it, please?

I have a family history of under active thyroid, and I’m depressed, gaining weight, have thinning hair and no energy, so I would like to get this checked out - and a home test might be easier (for me) than going into the surgery - and I’m not sure they would do a non-urgent thing like this anyway.

I used Thriva and with the same sort of symptoms. Turned out not to be thyroid which was nice (later validated by NHS blood test for other things).

You may get £25 off using voucher code 25OFF. They run it as a subscription but you can cancel after just one, no hassle - DP did that.

Thank you, @TheHighestSardine.

I've done a Thriva test as well (suggested by my private thyroid specialist). I found it really hard to take the blood: I used all three lancets and I still hadn't collected enough blood, so they had to send another kit (which was free)! Then I had all the stress of taking it to the postbox- it was about a week into lockdown and it was the first time I'd been out as I'm (unofficially) shielding. Next time, I think it will be easier, as I know how to take the blood now. They also have a video you can watch if the written instructions aren't helping: I didn't know that the first time around. Good luck with it.

I used Medichecks. They have different deals every Thursday for thyroid tests.

I did pay extra to get my blood drawn locally, as just didn't like the idea of the finger prick test (bit funny with needles and would rather someone else did it).
