Lump on neck )-:

Wondering if anyone can help. I have had a lump on my neck for a couple of days. It is behind my ear at top of neck. It feels hard and boney like. Been to see GP who said she was newly qualified and not quite sure what it was and was going to refer for an urgent scan.
I am really worried. Has anyone else had this? I had been putting off going drs as thought it was a lymph node.

I’ve got loads of lumps in my neck atm. Had a scan and they’re all ‘reactive’ ie just swollen due to my body fighting infection, nothing sinister. Have you been unwell at all in past few weeks? It may be a reactive lymph node if so. Sometimes they work so well you don’t even get any other symptoms of illness, just swollen nodes.

I think it’s 0.4% of lumps that get diagnosed as cancer in under 40s, and 4% in over 40s. Please try not to worry the chances are it’s an innocent lump 🙂

Thank you @WorryWartOne for replying.
Walking away from GP today I googled and I think that's what scared me.
I was ill a couple of weeks ago so hopefully it is just a lymph node. I'm just terrified because it feels quite boney.

My Dad has one of these for about 20 years. They just said nothing to worry about. Eventually he found a Doc that would cut it out

Thank you @hfrdgftcsdg it's not causing me any problems, just a bit painful to touch, so I would happy for it to stay as long as all was okay
