Personal stereo--is DS too young?

DS (3 and a half) is engrossed with his newest playthingmy personal stereo which, until I get him his own that he can put on by himself, has ordinary adult headphones which fit into the ear. I've made sure the volume isn't up too loud, but, being an ever-paranoid parent, I'm just a bit worried that I may be damaging his ears. What do other people thinkwhich sort of headphones would be best to buy?

why not get him a childrens personal stereo, ELC do them, I'm sure they are fine, I don't think they would sell them if there was any sort of risk

yes, Golds, had thought of ELC but just wondered if I really needed to (it's a schlepp from where I live to the nearest ELC)

I suppose the beauty of getting a childs one is that it will be his, will be more robust and the max volume isn't too loud.

Although I've heard of risks... I think put in perspective, most people who are at risk are those who listen frequently (every day on the tube for instance) and at very high volumes...

I would say infrequent use, at a managed vol level would be OK?
