Fluttering in ear?

On and off today I've had a fluttering Jose in my left ear. I've been noticing it more as the days gone on. Could it be an insect or wax? I put water in my ear and then I've put in some olive oil drops. It's still doing it. If it was an insect wouldn't it have died from the olive oil and water? Should I get it checked out?

I had something like this on and off for a while, it was like a thumping in my ear. It was diagnosed as tensor tympani syndrome and eventually just stopped on its own.
