Night sweats-what causes them?

I hardly slept a wink last night due to sweating and feeling warm, no temperature. I had a few last month when I was on my period, and my next one is due this week/start of next.
My friend mentioned it could be menopause. Surely i'm too young? Im only 35 and we are looking to ttc next year hopefully. My periods are regular but thats because im on the pill.
Just wondering if anyone else has experience of them and what causes them?

Thyroid issues
Low iron
B12 deficiency
Low blood sugar
Nightmares that you don’t remember having
Vitamin D deficiency
Peri menopause

Lots of reasons so don’t automatically start panicking about menopause.

Is it sweats or feeling warm. Its been hot at night. Mattresses and pillows hold lots of moisture. Polycotton bedding and heavy tog duvets and non 100% cotton nightwear is sweaty.

I have idiopathic night sweats. Absolute killer, when I was practising as a dentist I was fortunate enough to have a surgery next to a Private GP who liked me enough to ask why I looked awful every day. He did some research and prescribed me a drug that's usually used to stop bed wetting. Ocy butinin I think. It changed my life overnight and I have it on repeat prescription, off licence through the NHS. AMAZING

It could be absolutely anything OP...in my case during my 30's it turned out to be hormone related/perimenopausal and I've been placed on HRT at the grand old age of 40. It might be worth you having a little chat to your doctor about it...I have a 4 year old daughter conceived naturally and I can still get pregnant now so if that turns out to be the path you're on, it's far from the end of your want for a family x

@Idododoidadada thank you, didn't realise night sweats could be caused by so many things.

@HappyHammy I was sweating, although my bedroom was a little warmer last night than usual.

@Mrsmorton I was on those tablets as a child due to kidney problems, I came off them when I was a teenager. Do they not make your mouth dry? I remember my mouth was dry constantly on them, it was horrible.

@Curious78 that's a huge relief to know I can still get pregnant. If the sweats continue I will contact my doctor, don't really like bothering them at the minute with everything that's going on as it's not really an emergency.

@Idododoidadada I just googled the things you have suggested and I have symptoms in all of them. I'll maybe see if I can get a gp appointment when things are a bit more normal.

Yes a bit but proper night sweats are debilitating. A dry mouth is pretty small fry.

Get checked by gp if this is a change from usual. Some very serious medical issues can cause night sweats (though not common).

Don't panic about menopause..., but glad you are trying at 35. Maybe get off the pill shortly??? God bless!

I'm 49. Hormone levels look great, but not trying for babies, obvs.!

There are night sweats...and there are night sweats. Do you have to change the bed? I would get that checked TBH

Or is it just very hot and sweaty at night?

I've Been having night sweats that come on for two or three days just before period for about 8 years now. Probably started late 30's. I'd wake up soaked to the skin and be both boiling hot and freezing!

Never had them checked out. Figured it was peri menopause and although it's pretty grim I just get on with it. About half my friends once we'd hit 40 were getting them.

I've noticed weight loss has reduced the severity as well as keeping off alcohol around that time and upping the water intake

@DamnYankee i'll be 36, if we ttc near end of year I will be 37 when it's born. Would love to try this year but finances won't allow it
@Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow I don't have to change the bed clothes so maybe just warm, I think I panicked when my friend mention menopause.
@jonnybiscuits that seems to be whats happening with me. I don't really drink alcohol but need to up my intake of water. I definately need to loose weight, i'm trying to work on that but it's hard.
