Diarrhea Episode (6 months old)

Hi All and Good Afternoon,

I think I may just be looking for some reassurance or any advice from someone that may have experienced something similar.

Last weekend (09/05) we noticed that our 6 month old DD wasn't herself. She was crying a lot and very difficult to comfort and it became more and more evident that she wasn't at all happy.

At her nappy change we noticed that she had very quickly developed severe nappy rash (in the crease/crack of her buttocks) and had also noticed that her bowel movement frequency had increased suddenly and significantly.

Our immediate response was to treat the nappy rash as the red, inflamed and angry skin appeared to be the primary source of her pain. We called 111 explained the situation and was prescribed a steroid cream and barrier ointment to help treat the rash and relieve the pain.

We was told by the doctor to allow the Diarrhea to resolve on its own and in its own time.

We are now 7 days on and have gotten on top of her rash which has cleared up almost fully, however, her bowel movements remain very frequent and although they are not watery, she soils her nappy between 10-20 minutes after every single bottle feed.

She has no other symptoms, is not dehydrated and is taking her full feed on every occasion.

It almost feels that the Diarrhea has passed but the frequency remains high.

The doctor has advised that her bowels will need time to fully recover after the initial bout of Diarrhea and may take up to two weeks to get back to normal.

I just wondered if anyone had experienced something similar and if anyone had any advice to help the process along?

Many thanks. Dion
