Pea-sized lump appeared on labia

Morning,

I've posted on General health too.

I was inserting a tampon last night and noticed a pea-sized lump on my inner labia, near the entrance to my vagina. It is soft-ish and can be moved between my fingers. It's a bit tender to the touch. When I looked, it's a shiny, round, pinky-red lump, no head. It's less than 1cm across. It seems to have appeared out of nowhere.

I've googled Bartholin's cyst and I suppose it could be that although it sort of sits proud of the skin surface and, as I said, can be pinched and moved inside the skin on the labia.

I don't want to dash off to the GP, though I will if it doesn't go.

Any thoughts on what it might be please?

Mine has gone Shock! I checked all over and can still feel the little lump that was next to it, but the main lump has disappeared! I’ll be so embarrassed if I’ve simply missed it Grin! The second hot bath helped, I think.
Hoping yours clears soon too.

I've had these in both pregnancies, both times they just went away on their own. Agree with PP that squeezing a potential cyst probably isn't advisable!

@SummerBreeze20 that's a relief for you! I'm going to keep doing warm compresses then go to GP next week of still there :)

Keeping everything crosses for you OP!

Confused it’s there again!! Thankfully only half the size as the last time I had noticed it. I’m sure I didn’t miss it y’day (I’m now accepting I probably did!)!

whatsthatnow74 · 19/05/2020 10:17

@SummerBreeze20 oh no! How weird. Mine’s still there. I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll probably have to go and get it checked out (if only to stop myself from worrying). I just don’t fancy a random GP visit right now! So annoying!

whatsthatnow74 I understand. Is it still the same size? How are you treating it?

thaaaafuck · 20/05/2020 23:30

I have two, they are both under the skin and not painful to touch, one is pea sized and quite soft ish but the one next to it is like a tiny pin head and hard, the go said cysts and they are still there 3 years later!

Friendsofmine · 20/05/2020 23:48

Could also be an inflamed gland which wouldn't want a squeeze!

whatsthatnow74 · 21/05/2020 14:03

@ summerbreeze20 yes, it's still the same size. I realised that it is in fact smaller than pea sized and more like a ball bearing. I'm doing absolutely nothing with it tbh. Trying to leave it alone.

@thaaaafuck yours sounds similar to mine. When I pinch it under the skin, I can see I defined little ball. It doesn't have a head but the skin over it is sort of shiny for want of a better description.

I get these a bit. Leave them for a few days and they will probably go away. You can try squeezing it... once I did and it left a mark on the ceiling... Grin

Justmemyself · 21/05/2020 14:13

I've had these a few times. Exactly as you describe, a little pea shaped ball under the skin. Same as previous posters I do the hot flannel and hard squeeze which generally sorts them. I do find that they seem to get bigger if you keep prodding them though so if you don't want to squeeze it then try to ignore it.

CovidicusRex · 21/05/2020 14:22

I had something like this once but on the inner side of my outer labia. A head appeared after a few days and it burst like a teenaged zit (have had more than my fair share of those!) after I applied some slight pressure. I’ve had comprehensive STD screening when obtaining contraception so I’m confident it wasn’t anything more than a typical blocked pore. It was weird though. Hasn’t happened again so I guess it was just a one off. Happened in hot weather for me too.

memberof5 · 21/05/2020 15:13

Just to be gross I had one of these once in my late teens. It really hurt. I decided to give it a little squeeze and an arch of watery pus flew up and out of my fanny and hit me in the shoulder. I still feel a bit queasy thinking about it. Stopped hurting immediately though.

Mvshrln · 09/07/2020 18:02

Did it go away? I found similar one me about 10 days ago and it was quite sore to touch so I left it and it burst on its own (ew!). It was still there, although smaller and then burst on it own again (so gross lol!). I expect it'll do it a few more times then completely go away.
