i have come up with tiny pus filled spots under my arm pits. they are yukky. they arent in the hairy part IYKWIM but at the top where the arm pit meets the arm. the skin isnt red or sore or anything.

and the weird thing is its under both arm pits, not just one.

have i got the lurgy??

Hmmm i dunno. I get this sometimes but witht the red skin and they get very sore. I usually try changing my deoderant.

littlemissbossy · 08/10/2004 23:10

No, although like nutty, I too have a reaction to some deodrants but not actual spots. If it continues I'd go to your GP

misdee · 08/10/2004 23:10

nothing has changed, and have been fine with my deodrant for years.

in fact the only thing that has changed this week is that i had a glucose tolerence test done weds, and they made me drink a vile glucose gloopy liquid.

Blocked pores possibly?

www.lush.co.uk do 'crystal' type doedorants - a sort of solid bicarb & essential oils block thingy you swipe at your pits which doesn't block the skin. They shatter if you drop them unfortunately (but are then v good for sprinkling in manky trainers...)

misdee · 09/10/2004 08:15

as i use cream deodrants, its not actually where i put the cream. its higher up. they are still there this morning. dh did a spot check to see if i had any anywhere else, and none anywhere. its very weird. if they spread or become sore i'll go to the gp.

I've got one of these - showed it to the doctor and he said it was a fat deposit under the skin. Sorry!!

TraceyP · 09/10/2004 12:32

Misdee, there is a nasty condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa which can cause painful pus-filled boils like these. It's very hard to treat, and some doctors don't even know it exists, so it can be hard to get a proper diagnosis. My sister has had it for years and can't find anything to control it.

It is caused by a tendency of the hair follicles to become blocked, and can be caused by an auto-immune problem, stress or hormone disorder. A doctor may prescribe antibiotics or steroidal treatment, but you should try and avoid deodorants, chemical shampoos and soaps, tight clothes. Something which sometimes helps is tea tree oil mixed with Vitamin E oil. If you find it messy, cover the oil with a gauze pad and change it every day.

Do get it checked out by a doctor, as if this is what you've got it can be a pig to treat.

Jennisaurus · 09/10/2004 16:31

I have got a nasty rash there before because of too tight tees, could it be that?

misdee · 09/10/2004 16:34

nope, t-shirt was loose, no bits rubbing on it, bra was plain and soft too.

i have bought a crystal spring deodrant stick today just in case its a reaction to that. They arent sore, or itchy or anything. just look like a small ring of teenage spots but on my underarms.

I had horrid boil type things under my arms once- it's foul but the doc sid it was deodorant blocking the pores... i have to use sanex roll on now- everything else blocks the pores up again...

Tickle · 10/10/2004 09:53

re crystal deodorants - if they do shatter you can put the pieces in one of those manual pump sprays (50ml or so) and fill it up with water... works fine!

rosies · 10/10/2004 10:01

i bought a crystral deodorant in the srping and have been most impressed with it... absolutely no odour or staining of clothes. it makes me feel cleaner and fresher, i think.

i always found that even with an unperfumed roll on, as your body heat and perspriration mixed with it, there would still be a chemically odour... lol or is that just me?!

great tip for it shatters, thanks!

PotPourri · 10/10/2004 10:45

I got a crystal spring deo (the large clear block) over a year ago and it is still going strong, hardly a dent in the size of it. It is really great, no chemical smells, and no stains at all. And there is NEVER a smell, even on really hot days. I would second the fact that there are no chemicals for sewat etc to mix with which is what makes it whiffy.

Not that impressed with teh Lush ones to be honest. I think they stillemall a bit whiffy at the end of a hard day. But agree they are nice in trainers, or as a deodouriser in teh wardrobe etc.

I used to get swollen glands under my arms which were really sore. Nto pus filled though

EvesMama · 10/10/2004 20:40

sounds strange, but is it almost time of month?, v.embarresing, but i get'lumps' down below wat this time of month, very sore and doc's have offerd no real advice. they normally say blocked pores because of shaving, but even when stopped to try, it still happend. my own thoery is either hormones when due on or pill as when i was pregnant with dd i only got them once and when id had her and went back on pill and normal periods they came back?if you are on pill, maybe think of changing?hth

Branster · 10/10/2004 21:01

rosies and Potpourri
