STRANGE POO in 4 yr old - could this just be a bug????

Ds (4) has the strangest ever poo last night, me and dh are still shocked with what we saw. He had been complaining of tummy pains for a couple of days but it didn't stop him from carry on as usual, just that he found it a little harder to go to the toilet (constipated I think). Well when he did a poo last night and asked me to wipe his bottom, I noticed 2 different poos in the toilet (sorry TMI), one was a normal colour and the other......well......it was green, it actually looked like the poo was wrapped in mould - disgusting!!

Any idea's??? Should we go to the Dr's? He seems ok in himself apart from a little tearful this morning about silly little things (he gets like this when coming down with something usually).

I think there may be a bug going round but still, doesn't this sound a bit odd???

Any advice welcomed, thanks

maybe a bug, the " 2 tone poo " u describe would be where half of it has collected normally and the other green half has been collected when theres A either a bug present or B hes drank alot of vimto or something similar, my dd's poo is always funny coloured but she drinks alot of vimto lol, i wouldnt worry tbh

Thanks for quick replies.

No parties
Only drinks water and milk
No green food

I think it's a bug tbh, I wanted to leave it due to ds being ok but dh was really concerned and couldn't take his mind off this fury green stuff wrapped around it. The way I see it, we wouldn't have known if he'd wipe his own bottom.

Feel better now, will just keep an eye out on further poos

Green usually means that the poo has "shot through" a little fast and not gone through the usual digestive processes. Same with muscous.

The "two tone" poo will be from two different ocassions (maybe days apart hence the tummy pain). Poo can hang around for a while.. ever the heard the descriptions of what comes out during people's colonic irrigation processes?

I'm not an expert.. no have any desire to "Dr" Gillian's job (ugh! ) but I think from what you describe, this is what has happened. I am a parent of a child with cystic fibrosis so am a "lay person Poo "Expert" )

Keep an eye on it. But the offending poo has probably passes though now and the rest will no doubt be fine.

Very interesting, thanks for that I'm going to keep an eye out and see how his next poo is (last nights were NOT hard but the morning one was very hard)

Thanks again!
