mmr and sleep disturbance

My 13month old ds had his mmr on Friday. I was told that a rash/fever/grumpiness would be a normal reaction over the following 10 days.
He's had none of this, however, he's suddenly become very difficult to put to bed this week. He used to go into bed with minimum fuss, at worst just crying down for a minute or 2. These last 3 nights though, he's been screaming the minute he's taken to his room, and not stopping even when picked up/shushed etc. The strange thing is that he stops immediately if we bring him downstairs and he starts playing normally. He's gone from going to sleep at 7.30 to screaming until 10pm when he's so exhausted, and it's really distressing to see him screaming and sobbing as though he's in great distress.
Has anybody else had a similar experience? I've looked in the archive messages but haven't seen anything like this.

My ds had his on Monday and we've had a couple of bad nights with him, and he has been grumpier than usual when I've taken him out in his buggy. He's also been doing a weird blinking thing when he is tired.

It could be that your ds' arm is hurting, but who knows what it feels like? I think that the Rubella part kicks in earlier than the measels so I'm putting it down to that with ds.

yes, my dd did this, don't worry.

I think it lasted around 2/3 weeks though - sorry!

thanks Horriblehorace, i thought it was just him! I haven't heard of anybody else having a similar experience. Hope it doesn't last that long though!

Hi there,

I know this was some time ago, but just wondered if your son got better, after 2/3 weeks.

My dd had her MMR 14 days ago, and we are experiencing exactly the same symptoms of you, and it is very distressing.

Would really like to hear if your son settled down.

Thanks
