kidney cysts noticed on fetus - any advice

a very good friend had her 20-week scan this morning and has found that her baby has a number of cysts on one of his/her kidneys and it's likely that only one of the kidneys will have normal function.
Has anyone's baby experienced the same or has anyone got any advice please?
thank you

You can manage perfectly well with only 1 kidney. It is likely though that the baby will have another ultrasound once born to check that things haven't changed and will probably go on preventative antibiotics for the first couple of years to prevent urinary tract infections.
This is what happened with my friends ds and now that he is 3 1/2 with no further problems he is being taken off the antibiotics.
