Tingles in upper back

Hey all!
So I know I should be going to the GP regarding this but until the current world situation becomes better I don’t want to waste their time.
I have a 6 month old baby and since around her 4 month birthday I’ve been having tingles up and down both shoulder blades. Nothing goes further than the “bra strap” line.
No pain whatsoever & only happens when I’m washing dishes/ making food etc. Seems to be when arms are outstretched.
When looking online (I know I shouldn’t) terrifying results come back such as MS etc.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this kind of thing?
It’s just bizarre!

I have recently had an MRI due to severe pins and needles sensation all down my back 24/7 and it turns out I have 3 slipped discs, 2 in lower neck/upper back vertebrae pressing on nerves. It started years ago on and off with tingles like you mention.

Might be worth going to a chiropractor and seeing if you can get an adjustment? Continually lifting your baby may have triggered something. Then again it may not be that but just made me think it could be when you said it happens when your arms are outstretched.

This is exactly how my fibromyalgia started

It could be strain from pregnancy or lifting your baby. I had awful lower back pain after my son was born and it turned out to be malalignment of the pelvis which the physio fixed in one session.

Might be hard at the moment but see if you can see a physio, if you can afford it, maybe try a private physio. They generally charge about £35 for a session.

I’ve had no pain at the location of the discs but have had really bad pain referred down my arm from the nerves.

I get a tingling, like mild pins and needles, not painful just slight tingling when my vitamin B12 is low, it's worse when I am also anaemic through iron deficiency.

My back tingles and itches and is numb every day. I have arthritis in my spine and some bulging discs, which have trapped a nerve somewhere.

@welshgirl20 I’m so sorry for jumping on an old post but I was wondering if you ever worked out what was causing your back pins & needles? I have word for word what you described even down to when it happens (damn dishes 😂) I just don’t want to bother my GP with the current ongoings if it’s nothing too serious 🧐

So for a few other reasons the GP put me on a low dose of Citalopram to help ease my panic attacks that begun and the tingles stopped the same time the panic attacks got better.
I think it was being very tense and uptight all the time.
But the good news is, nothing bad came of it so hopefully it's the same for you!!

@JustMum93 hiya I’m sorry for jumping an old thread as well but I also have the same feeling and doing the dishes is the main time it happens too lool. Did you find out what was causing the tingling in your back?

Hi! Sorry for replying to an old post but I was wondering if you found out what was causing this? I've been experiencing it since giving birth 6 months ago and has recently become worse.

No I haven’t, sorry. I’ve almost gotten used to the pins & needles coming and going which is not advisable )I will book the GP and follow it up).

Have either of you found out what’s causing it for you?

I am 9 months post partum and have the tingling sensation in my back near the bra strap.

No pain with it and no rhyme or reason when it will happen.

Did you ever find out what it was?

Hi! I never found out what it was, I even had a private MRI scan but nothing came up. I still get the feeling but either not as intense or I don’t notice it as much and it doesn’t bother me enough to investigate further. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis shortly after I gave birth but it’s unlikely to be related.

Hi mine eventually stopped. Didn't ever find out what the cause was.

Mine just stopped. Although the Dr did tell me to take some b12 as I was low and coincidently it went away the same time. The Dr did say their was a type of anemia that could cause it and said b12 would help but didn't think I had it. But it went away with b12 so it was either coincidence on timing or the b12 for the anemia did help and I'm still undiagnosed 🤣🤷🏻
