have been sent my reminder which I usually ignore.I am wary of having a vaccine I might not need.
Anywya last winter I had really nasty chest infection, not the flu ,but I was quite ill for quite a few weeks.I am a mild asthmatic.
I really don't want to go through that again.Any opinions on whether the flu jab would make any difference whatsoever.

i get the flu jab every year. the first time i had the pneumonia(?) jab too - i think you only need this once.
i dont really know why i get it, but they send me a letter every year and i think what the hell.
i havent had anything more that a few head colds over the last few years.

I do!

Last time I got flu, I was 25 and about as fit as a person can get - spending nearly every spare hour climbing and hillwalking at 5,000+ feet.

I wound up with pneumonia in both my lungs and spent Xmas in hospital.

It took me months before I was back to my prior level of fitness.

True influenza is anything but a run of the mill illness.

Get your jab!

I have to harrass my 71-year-old father who has hypertension and heart disease to get his, don't give me a new person to harrass !

nope it has never made me feel ill.
tbh im not really sure why i got on the posting list for it. i had mild asthma when i was little, mainly coinciding with hayfever. but havent suffered from it for years

DH has asthma and has had the flu jab for the past couple of winters. He hasn't had flu after having the injections (neither have I without injections, but I don't have asthma either).

The pneumo jab did make my father ill this year, but he is elderly and has lung scarring from many years of smoking and a particularly bad bout of pneumonia when he was young.

And as I pointed out to him, if the jab did that, imagine what the real disease could do?
