Called back for second CT scan

I'm looking for advice from anyone with the appropriate medical knowledge or anyone who may have been through something similar please.

I had an ultrasound scan which identified a mass in my liver. I was then given a CT scan to try to identify what the mass actually is. I have now been asked to go back for another CT scan but this time they want to look at my thorax and adrenal gland.

Forgive my ignorance but could anyone please explain what they might be looking for? Is this normal to go from scanning the liver to then scanning the thorax and gland?

Also I can't help but be worried as I thought procedures like this were being put on hold due to the coronavirus. Does this suggest it's urgent?

I really don’t know but can understand why you are worried. Your GP should have the results of the ultrasound and CT scan so may be worth booking a phone consultation to see if they can give you any more information. Do you have a date for the next CT?

No advice I'm afraid but since your appointment is tomorrow morning sending good luck your way.
I'm assuming you have to go unaccompanied so in that case on arrival maybe say that you'd like to know what they are looking for, what are the possible things it could be. Maybe they will give you some kind of printed report tomorrow after your scan. Hope it goes well.

I had the scan this morning but they weren't able to tell me anything, they said they just had a referral form detailing what area was to be scanned.

I'll just have to wait for the results now. Thanks again.

I expect you will get results by letter or possibly by phone or video call, hopefully before too long.
DH has had CT scans before and the last one earlier this year the results took almost 2 weeks. It might be a little longer to wait just now but if they are doing the test there must be someone available to interpret any findings. Hoping for good news.
