Rapid onset cataracts due to steroids

Has anyone had them and had a good outcome?
Mum has Lupus, was diagnosed 19 mths ago, at the moment they are struggling to get her steroids below 10mg a day. She consistently has flares if dropped further depite being on 2 or 3 different meds to control it. In the last 4 mths she has gone from being able to drive, to them talking about taking away her license. She has just undergone surgery to remove one cataract, will have the other done in 8 weeks. It has been very frightening for her (and me), for her to lose her eyesight so quickly and unexpectedly. They are being non commital about the long term prognosis, and the only real bit if independence she has is her car. I live over 200 miles away and am a bit lost
