Tixylix Baby Syrup, Need advice....

My 24 week dd has had a cold for about a week and the past couple of nights it has developed into a dry cough.

I'm using a karvol plug-in and have given calpol when it's got really bad, but it doesn't help the cough. I have also put books under the end of the cot and a damp towel in the room.

She's waking up almost every half hour and falling asleep in my arms. She's on good form otherwise, eating and drinking plenty.

I popped into the chemist to get some more karvol today and spotted Tixylix Baby Syrup on the shelf. I asked the pharmasist and she said it might help. The thing is, I heard a few years back, people giving this to thier kids as in contains something that makes them sleep.

The pharmasist said that she couldn't spot anything on the ingredients, so I thought I'd ask the masses, please advise......

there is a night time syrup by one of them but it isnt recommended for under 1's due to the ingredients. Also, you cant get chesty medicine for under 1's that I can find. Medised has an anti-histamine that can cause drowsiness but dont know any of the others that do the same (it is from 3 months but tastes vile!). Tixylix is pretty innocuous and will just be to put a coating on the throat to soothe from the coughing.
