Sick note extension

My sick note runs out next week 6th April and I just wondered how far in advance I can get it extended, do I have to wait until the 6th or could I ask for an extension today.
Just trying to take some pressure off GP's by requesting it early but don't want to waste their time if they can't process it early.

I dont get your logic in how asking for it early is taking pressure off your doctor. If anything try & schedule an appt for Monday today. They wont forward date it so it seems a waste getting it before its needed

At the moment my doctors surgery is deserted. I phoned yesterday morning hoping for an appt later in the week. Got offered a choice of time slots for the afternoon. My doctor phoned me half an hour before the appt time so they're clearly not busy

You can get it early and you can ask them to do it via phone, you don’t need to go in

You can also ask for a longer period if you need it. Hope you feel better soon.
