Doctors for this or not?

About 4 weeks ago I developed a cold which seemed like a sinus type problem. Since it started I've had a productive cough. This may be TMI, but the mucus is white usually and doesn't look particularly 'infected'.

I simply cannot shift the cough however. It's interfering in my ability to sleep up to a point as it seems to be worse at night. It's left me feeling quite tired, although I do have an underlying joint health condition that leaves me fatigued anyway so that might be contributing.

I've done the online symptom checker 111 thing and it says to go see your GP if you have a cough lasting more then 3 weeks, which I'm obviously over now in terms of that limit.

I'm in two minds whether it's worth it or not. I'm obviously mindful that the health service is probably swamped at the moment with everything that is going on. I also feel that it's a bit pointless if all they are going to say is 'it's a virus, just go away'.

On the other hand I'm worried that I'm not seeing any obvious improvement. Also, my other half is away from the middle of next week for a fortnight, which means doing all the parenting, housework, dog walking etc by myself which I don't feel up to right now.

BTW, before anyone suggests it, it's highly unlikely to be coronavirus related as I haven't travelled or been near anyone who has travelled and I've been ill since long before it was in this country. Also the symptoms don't really match.

I would say visit your GP if your condition is autoimmune especially if the cough has been going on longer than 3 weeks.

Yes, go to see your GP.
