Painkilling injections

When you visit the dentist sometimes they inject and numb your gum, to lesten the pain.

Well some years back I damaged my hand and to A&E I went, for injection into knuckles of my palm, not the fingers.

Well it seems i have to have an op on the nose (Cartiledge). Because of the excru I suffered in my knuckles, I am not looking forward to it. It seems the injections that reduce your pain, are more painful than the "Actual job". I am really NOT looking forward to the numbing injections. Anyone had any experience of these awful injections? Last time was so profound.

How painful the injections are really does depemd on where they are given. Hands and feet are notoriously awful as there are so many nerves. I had this conversation with an A&E doctor when my son had to have some fingers numbed after an accident. It took many attempts until everywhere was finally numb, and every attempt was excruciating for poor DS. A friend had to have her toe numbed and said it was worse than childbirth - again, due to it being a bony area with a lot of nerves nearby.

So it may not be anywhere near as bad having your face/nose injected as it was with your hand? Just trying to reassure you a little!
