Why did my newborn DD was born with mastitis ?

Hormones, I think. All 3 of mine had it and I've got 2 boys! It makes the area around their nipples a bit lumpy, none of mine needed treatment though, what did they do to your dd?

my DD who is nearly 3 had very inflamed skin around her nipple but i cant remember if she got treated now!! it was sssoooooo long ago and my head was all a blur!!

not much more help but i was also told it was hormonal, i had mastitis, hers were certainly swollen and sore to the touch but mw didn't say if it was also mastitis, just that it would settle down and was due to my hormones. poor thing also had a little period and was dead spotty, you'd think they'd save these things for adolescence

it just ive never heard it on here so thought my DD was the odd one out!
