I Have Broken My Lymphedema Arm

cleanasawhistle · 14/02/2020 19:58

I have had lymphedma for the last couple of years.
Not bad enough to be given a slieve but my hand usually swells quite a bit during summer.

I fell down the stairs on Monday night and have quite a bad fracture of the wrist. A&E said I need an operation but they can't operate, doctor in fracture clinic today said same but he will have me xrayed every week to see if he is forced to make the decision.

Anyone else been through this ?

I haven't been in this situation but I do wish you a speedy recovery. Hope they have prescribed sufficient pain medication for you.

You poor thing - I hope you're not in too much pain.

Are you under a lymphedema clinic? I'm sure they could advise, otherwise, maybe contact the local breast cancer nurses (I'm assuming it was due to BC, otherwise, maybe the hospital unit you were treated by).

Thank you both.
yes lots of pain but I do have pain killers.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer over 5 years ago.
Just worried about the risks if I have to go ahead with the operation.
I will give my BC nurse a call on Monday

I thought I recognised your name from the tamoxigang threads (I had to name change recently).

Hopefully your BC nurse can help.

Yes thats right @DuckyMcDuck I was a regular on there at the time.

Leslie and the rest of you Lacies were a great support xx

I cant seem to find any info from google re operating on a lymphedma arm

Hi @cleanasawhistle
Was wondering how you got on?
Hope the BC nurse was helpful and you're feeling a bit better.
