Dizziness and nauseous

I keep getting dizzy spells and a feeling nauseous. Had a blood test today for my thyroid check and was fine for a few hours but it's come back again. Any suggestions of what I can do?

I've phoned the doctors but surprise surprise no appointments available. Help!

Coronovirus?

It could be labyrinthitis - that causes symptoms like yours.

I had vestibular neuronitis following a cold. Six weeks in bed loads of meds. Finally they tried antibiotics which did knock it on the head. Had to have an mri scan, the consultant told me that I probably had an ent problem which gp had not picked up on. Go see your gp, it is horrid.

I feel your frustration. On week 8 of those symptoms now. I have finally been diagnosed with vestibular neuritis. Feels like I will never feel “undizzy” again

You will feel dizzy for a long time, for two years I could not go down an escalater. I still close my eyes when stepping on at the top. I went to the physio who gave me some exercises which helped me recover faster, you have to retrain the brain. A weird thing if I open the mirrored bathroom cabinet quickly whilst looking at the world tilts for a moment. Cawthorne Cooksey exercises helped me greatly.

Thanks everyone. It got so bad I ended up going to the walk-in-centre as I felt like I was about to pass out or have a heart attack from my heart racing so fast. He said I had vertigo and gave me some tablets to help with the sickness. The dizziness has subsided but not a lot and the nauseousness has gone down unless I go in a car or turn around too quickly. However, I've now got a bad headache around my ear which is throbbing and feels like I'm being stabbed when it's really bad, ringing in my ear and loss of hearing. After doing some research I reckon it's labyrinthitis so I'm heading back to the doctors tomorrow to see if my suspicions are correct and hopefully get some more anti-nauseous tablets.

Could be labrynthitis. Were you given Stemetil (Prochlorperazine) for the dizziness? Hopefully it will settle and clear.

If not in a month or two have a look at Migraine Associated Vertigo and ask your GP for a referral to a neurotologist to get a diagnosis. You could try a migraine diet in the interim.

It's likely it will clear though.
