Swollen, itchy, mottled hands..

For the past 5 days my hands have been very itchy through the night, slightly itchy through the day and quite swollen.
They appear blotchy/mottled with some redness but no broken skin or blisters or bumps etc

I have tried antihistamines, anti inflammatory, and moisturised for days but no change..

Any ideas?

I currently have this. It is much worse while washing hands, ie the red is much darker and the white blotches more obvious.
I drink too much and I'm v worried it's a liver issue.
Are you menopausal? As I wonder if there's a connection there with me.

Not menopausal, 35 and a light drinker... It went away after about 10 days but I didn't figure out the cause

That's great to hear it has gone. I'm sure various deficiencies contribute to these symptoms too, making them more pronounced

@SpanishFly Hi, I also think with me it's a menopausal thing for sure. It started a couple of years ago (and I had an MRI at that time to check liver etc for another issue and all was fine)

I also drank/drink too much, but it's definitely not that and at the time I had even had a year off booze! (I was 45, now 49) full menopause. My wedding ring doesn't fit.

Glad yours is sorted OP

Could it be a mild case of hand foot and mouth? Do you have kids? Are they showing any signs?

SpanishFly · 20/03/2020 16:20

@BillieEilish wow, that post is almost identical to me - I have drunk far too much over the years, and have cut right back now, but it doesn't stop the fear that it could be liver related.
Although I have had blood tests a few months back, which showed LFT very slightly elevated, but all else in the optimal range.
I also had an MRI on my right side looking at the bowel etc, but to this day I have no clue if they looked at the liver.
