Is this normal

About 10 days ago now I came down with horrific throat infection....extremely painful to swallow, talk and cough, high temperature and racing heart rate. GP gave me a course of antibiotics which I am almost finished.

I am much better in that my throat is no longer painful BUT I still do not feel like myself and is it really getting me down. I was off work for three days and then went back for the last week (FT teacher) I still have bad cough/cold and have been totally exhausted every night going to bed at the same time as my two kids who are 9 and 6. I have occasionally had an upset tummy which I assume is the antibiotics and feel quite nauseous, I don't have much of an appetite and have felt teary and lacking energy to do anything.

I just want to feel normal again! Is this a normal reaction to an infection or to antibiotics??

I had a chest infection around this time last year and the antibiotics cleared it up within a week but I was not myself for a good month or so afterwards. I think your body just needs time to recover, obviously if you're worried see doctor but sounds similar to what I had. Hope you feel better soon x

It sounds as if you had strep throat

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streptococcal_pharyngitis

It's an evil little bacterial infection, have had it myself it took ages to get back to normal x

Thank you.

Seems I could have a while of still feeling not right then! It really has knocked me for six! I can't cope with the fact that I feel quite emotionally fragile and teary as I'm not normally like this at all!!
