Hi. My LO has little white spots on tip of her tongue which are obviuosly painful. She has been grumpy for past couple days and today not eaten or drunk much and is very unsettled. What will doc do if it is thrush? Antibiotics?

Give the HV a call tomorrow they will be able to advise! Are you BF? If so you could try cutting down on the amount of yeast in your diet that might help!

Not bf anymore, she is a year now. She is very unsettled tonight.

Don't bother with the HV - they can't prescribe. Go and see the GP.

If it is thrush, antibiotics are no good - she will need antifungal medicine, which can be given as drops.

it can make your throat really sore, so maybe some calpol to help her settle a bit until you can see the doc?

Are you breastfeeding? If so you'll need to treat your nipples and your baby's mouth. There are Nystatin drops. You'll both need to get clear at the same time.

Antibiotics, if anything cause thrush as they kill of the friendly bacteria which normally keep it in check.

Go to the gp asap. My HV told me they were milkspots, by the time I went to gp her mouth was so thick with it it took 3 rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it.

Make sure gp gives you something for your nipples and the babies mouth, if she doesn't put the baby's medicine on your nipples too, or you will keep giving it back to her.

I used to dip my (clean) finger in the liquid and rub it all round the babies mouth, and tongue, after a feed, I think, so it would not be washed away quickly.

Do it quickly as it will get very painful on your nipples if you put it off.

If the white spots don't rub off, they probably ARE thrush.
FGS DON'T use anti biotics on them. See my previous post. If anything use probiotics such as acidohpholus bifodus.
