I've had it for a couple of days, and because it has been so scratchy, it now hurths when I wee iykwim.

Used the cream since yesturday, and can't get to the doctors (don't think I really need it tbh).

What else can I use?

Thanks

Natural yogurt

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/09/2007 17:02

Key thing is to not scratch - which I know if easier said than done!

I suffer from this sporadically. Three things I would advise:

  1. cut as much sugar/carbohydrate out of your diet as you can

  2. take a capsule of Diflucan (or Boots own equivalent) which you can buy over the counter

  3. treat the sore areas with Germolene (stings a little but it has a local anaesthetic which really does help)

I've also used Canesten pessaries before which have helped.

Hope you're less scratchy soon!

One of the main things is to be scrupulous with cleaning. Use a baby wipe or damp loo roll after weeing and then reapply cream if you need to.

SaintGeorge · 02/09/2007 17:03

Nappy rash cream also good alternative. Slap it on, it really helps cool the itch.

VeronicaMars · 02/09/2007 17:09

Wear a skirt with no knickers to keep yourself cool. And drink an Actimel to balance your good and bad bacteria again.

BecauseImWorthIt · 02/09/2007 17:11

No, no, no - stay away from the Actimel!!! It's full of sugar - as is Yakult.

But a good probiotic is a good idea - Acidophilus from the health food shop.

VeronicaMars · 02/09/2007 17:14

There is a low fat one that's not full of sugar.

bubblagirl · 02/09/2007 17:21

i went to thre doctors who perscribed me a tablet as it was internal not external so cream wont help you can get caneston duo from boots or just the tablet and just keep cleaning with unfragranced wipes use no soap no tight fitting trousers or knickers

DarthVader · 02/09/2007 17:22

stop using biological washing powder for your pants, sheets and pjs

bubblagirl · 02/09/2007 17:23

oh also aloe vera gel will soothe itching and cool burning most health stores sell it

jofeb04 · 03/09/2007 09:51

Just to say thanks for all of the hints.

Going to try some today.
Thanks

I find the pessary is vital for getting rid of it. When I put the pessary in overnight, it usually goes the next day.

Ha! I wonder why it came back up again?! I guess the person before me must have found it! Let's hope she isn't still suffering

The person before you was a troll. It's a common ploy - using a zombie thread.
