I've had a bit of a bug and I've thrown up a few times i felt better until bedtime and had to run to bathroom to vomit. It was dark brown. I had eaten a couple of chips a bit earlier. Is this normal?

No, dark brown is not normal.

Newmumma83 · 01/02/2020 21:37

Wouldn’t say it is , but I am not a doctor... perhaps call 111 for advise?

Livedandlearned · 01/02/2020 21:38

My friend had this when she burst a stomach ulcer.

gingerfreckles · 01/02/2020 22:52

Usually indicates internal bleeding I think.

DoctorMarten · 01/02/2020 22:53

Call 111. Sounds like blood.

MrsEricBana · 02/02/2020 01:15

Yes 111. Hope all ok.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 02/02/2020 01:20

Dark brown is usually bloody stuff. Call 111 could just be you have nothing else to bring up but please call

thaegumathteth · 02/02/2020 01:22

You need medical advice

OvenGlovesWillTearUsApart · 02/02/2020 01:22

Unless you had an entire bottle of HP sauce with your chips, you probably need to call 111. Hope you’re ok.

Nogodsnomasters · 02/02/2020 07:25

How are you now op? I'd definitely suggest speaking to a medical professional.

Weenurse · 02/02/2020 07:26

Dark brown is what we call ‘coffee grounds vomit’ and it is old blood.

Natuk · 02/02/2020 08:58

Hope you are ok, Iyssie29! Did you drank any Coffee or Diet Coke? Hope you got some medical advice.

lyssie29 · 02/02/2020 10:22

Thanks everyone. I feel absolutely fine today but I'm going to phone doctor asap in the morning to get an appointment to get it checked out. I haven't been sick again since and have no pain or anything but I'm going to get it checked out just incase.

That’s good!

eandz13 · 02/02/2020 11:09

Check with doctor if you're concerned, but we've just had a 24 hour bug in this house and every one of us started with thick brown vomit. Like dark brown porridge (sorry). It gradually turned more watery and then tapered off and just left us exhausted. I've put it down to noro. Did you taste blood/metal?

Livedandlearned · 02/02/2020 12:14

Glad you feel better

lyssie29 · 02/02/2020 14:27

@eandz13 yeah it was a weird taste my stomach was pretty empty so maybe it was just because of that. Apart from a few aches today I feel totally fine and don't feel sick at all. It's just I had never noticed it that colour before but it sounds exactly like you describe so hopefully it's just from the bug.
